Dallas Chocolate Classes belongs to chocolatier and pastry chef Zach Townsend, and it has been running since 2011. He has over 25 years in chocolate and baking, and he teaches every class himself. The small classes happen in his pet-free home kitchen in Carrollton, near Addison, using professional couverture chocolate.
The couples class is the main draw. It's a private 1.5-hour session for two at $169 total, built around one French-inspired recipe you choose. Options include the mi-cuit au chocolat, a classic tigré mini cake, dark chocolate truffles, Philippe Conticini's dark chocolate mousse and a chocolate soufflé. You can bring beer or wine, and you go home with a pastry box. One-on-one lessons cost $239 for two hours and focus on skills like tempering and bonbons. There are also 3-lesson and 5-lesson packages.
For teams, Zach comes to you anywhere in Dallas-Fort Worth with truffle rolling, tastings, chocolate and wine pairing or a baking party. Most of these need no kitchen. Google reviewers rate it 5 stars across 196 reviews.
