La Cucina at the Market is an Italian cooking studio at 1206 Arch Street in Center City, steps from the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Owner Anna Maria Florio grew up in Philadelphia speaking Italian. Her parents came from Campania, and she spent childhood summers working in family trattorias in Benevento. She opened the first La Cucina inside Reading Terminal Market in 2008 and moved to Arch Street in 2016.
You can book a single seat in a public class. Classes run about three hours. You start with cheese and charcuterie, cook by hand with music playing, then sit down to eat what you made. Fresh pasta is a focus, with shapes like fettuccine and ravioli and a look at how pasta styles change from region to region. Recipes come afterward, and you can bring your own wine or beer.
Private events are a big part of the business. They include bachelorette parties, rehearsal dinners and team building for up to 50, with catering and serving staff included. The studio holds a 5.0 Google rating from 257 reviews.
