Lisle pizza school with Chicago-style classes and Italian pizzaiolo certification
North American Pizza & Culinary Academy opened in Lisle in 2018. Founder Chef Anthony Iannone trained in Italy, and the school says it is the only Scuola Italiana Pizzaioli accredited school in the country. It trains professionals and home cooks.
Home classes are hands-on and cover dough, fermentation and baking in Chicago tavern, deep dish, stuffed, New York and wood-fired styles. Current listings include Tavern Style Pizza at Home, where you form a thin-crust pizza baked in a deck oven, and Detroit Style Pizza at Home, where you take the pan home. Date night classes seat couples with another pair to cook a full meal, and the school also teaches Italian sausage, knife skills and fresh pasta. Kids' classes are for ages 6 and up, such as the Halloween pizza party. Other classes are adults only. Professional courses include a 5-day Pizzaiolo Certification and a 3-day American Pizza Masterclass.
