Marcel's Culinary Experience is a cookware store and cooking school in downtown Glen Ellyn, open since 2011. It hosts more than 350 classes a year in its own kitchen, and the calendar here is heavy on seasonal and holiday menus.
Formats vary. Hands-on dinner classes, like Iberian Autumn, Winter Paella and Winter in Rome, have you cook a full menu. Chef demonstrations, including Chef's Table wine dinners, let you sit back and eat course by course. Four-hour workshops go deeper into scratch pasta, Thanksgiving or cookie decorating. There is also a Scratch Sourdough class, and Fireside Flavors rotates guests through stations.
Kids have drop-off classes for ages 6 to 8 and 9 to 11, plus winter camps, and families can book Family Class nights. Many adult classes include wine and beer. Guests get 10% off regularly priced merchandise during class.
