BYOB hands-on dinner classes in Itasca, with steakhouse, sushi and Italian menus
Cooking Skills & Social runs public classes at 1201 Norwood Ave. in Itasca. Every class is BYOB and hands-on, with a professional chef leading a full dinner you cook and eat yourselves.
Menus lean toward Italian, seafood and steakhouse cooking. Recent classes include a Thursday sushi night with four rolls, a fall pasta night with fettuccine and half-moon ravioli, a short rib and gnocchi class that ends in cannoli, and Salmon Three Ways. There are also a Korean comfort food class, a French brunch and a bourbon cocktail class.
The calendar has social formats too. Couples' date nights, such as the scallops and beef hanging tender on risotto, cost a little more. A Halloween singles night has guests switch partners at each station to roll sushi, fold dumplings and make noodles. Popular dates sell out, and several late-October sessions already have.

The school says all ages are welcome, and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent. Mixology classes are strictly 21 and over.
