Edison Park kids' cooking storefront with themed evening classes and day-off camps
Kidz Can Cook is a storefront on West Touhy Avenue, opened by founder Donna Jacobs after eleven years of teaching kids in rented event spaces. Classes are for ages 5 and up, and they are drop-off. Parents and siblings can't wait inside during class, and there is no pre or post care.
Most menus follow a holiday or pop-culture theme. This fall's lineup includes Halloween SPOOKtacular, Pokémon Party, Camping Cookout and Thankful for Thanksgiving, all in the evening. School-day-off camps run in morning and afternoon blocks of about two and a half hours: Coco's Day of the Dead Camp, Is it (Cup)Cake???, Welcome to Hogwarts and a Cake Pop Camp for ages 7 and up. Kids make two or three recipes per class, taste them, and take recipe cards home. The facility is nut-free, and the studio also books private parties.
