Cooking school · Roscoe Village, Chicago
Roscoe Village baking school for cake decorating, macarons, donuts and pies
Give Me Some Sugar is a baking school on the corner of Belmont Avenue and Leavitt Street in Roscoe Village. It teaches one thing, sweets, and it says plainly that it is not a bakery. Pastry chefs teach hands-on classes for all skill levels, mostly Friday through Sunday, with some evenings.
The core menu is Basic Cake Decorating, Cake Baking 101, French Macaron 101, Croissants From Scratch and the Succulent Cake Workshop. Seasonal classes rotate in: this fall that means Fall Pies, where students make four mini pies including caramel apple and French silk, plus Fall Donuts, Halloween Macaron and a Halloween Cookie Decorating Workshop. Classes run two to three hours. The shop provides everything and boxes your cake or treats to take home. Cake decorating classes can be adapted for gluten-free and vegan requests. The shop also hosts kids' parties, adult parties and corporate events.
