Oui Chef is a kids' cooking school at 2622 N Halsted Street in Lincoln Park. Owner Chef Laura Ragano graduated from the Culinary Institute of America and the French Pastry School, then taught at the pastry school for ten years. Classes stay small, and each child works on their own recipe.
Weekly classes run 75 minutes for ages 18 months to 15 and follow a core theme that changes every 8 to 12 weeks. Children 18 months to 4 come with a caregiver, and kids 5 and up are dropped off. This fall's theme is All Things Fall, with French onion soup, savory galette and baked apple cider doughnuts. Families who can't commit weekly can book one-hour one-off classes for ages 2 to 5, such as monkey bread or steamed wontons. Winter break camps for ages 6 to 12 run in three-hour sessions.
