Classes and camps for young cooks

No experience needed
Summer Culinary runs weeklong cooking and baking camps for teens ages 12 to 17. The program lists kitchens in New York City, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Students cook in commercial kitchens from 10am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, with professional chef instructors.
Each day starts with a chef demonstration, such as knife work or rolling sushi, and moves into recipe sessions where groups cook from scratch. The curriculum covers knife skills, savory cooking, plating, and baking and pastry. The week ends with a Friday cooking competition.
Teens can join as commuters or stay in a residential sleepaway program with evening city excursions. No experience is needed, and the camp welcomes beginners as well as advanced home cooks. Tuition covers meals, equipment, a recipe book, and a personalized chef jacket for those who enroll by June 1st. Food allergies and dietary restrictions are accommodated, and families review medical needs with the staff before arrival.
