Let's Eat Austin teaches in a cozy home in the Windsor Park neighborhood of East Austin. It began in 2017 as a collective of restaurant professionals who wanted to bring fine dining into a home setting. The classes feel more like a dinner party than a lesson. Guests cook together, then eat what they made.
The weekly schedule runs from Fresh Egg Pasta on Saturday evenings to sushi, Thai, pizza, vegan ramen, vegan tacos and a Southern brunch buffet on Sundays. Cocktail classes sit alongside the cooking menu, and the Saturday 3pm Cocktail Hour is one. In the sushi class you roll uramaki and hosomaki, make wagyu nigiri and finish with matcha affogato.
Chef Aaron Andersson trained at Le Cordon Bleu. Chef Megan Smith is classically trained. Past guests mention first-time cooks, couples on date nights and client groups who had not met before. Classes are BYOB.
